Today, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 6079, the Repeal Obamacare Act. Following passage of H.R. 6079, U.S. Congressman Bill Flores issued the following statement:
"Repealing Obamacare has been one of my top priorities since being sworn in to Congress, and as of now I have voted 31 times to repeal, defund or dismantle the president's health care law. We should never forget that Obamacare was passed in the middle of the night by the last Congress without being fully read and fully understood. It fails in its primary goals of controlling costs and allowing Americans to keep their current health care coverage. It also hurts our taxpayers by adding over 20 new taxes costing more than $800 billion dollars. And the worst of these problems is that Obamacare violates our Constitutional liberties.
"Just last week we saw another dismal jobs report for the month of June. Americans are still struggling to find work, and according to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, Obamacare will cost our Nation's workers over 800,000 jobs. The president's health care law is also causing massive uncertainty for American business; hurting American job growth, economic growth and the American middle class. All of these issues are adding pain to an already troubled economy, which is struggling under the president's failed policies.
"Since the Supreme Court issued its ruling to uphold the president's health care law, I have conducted several telephone town hall meetings, reaching over 94,000 constituents throughout my district. I listened to my constituents concerns and conducted a live poll. This poll found that 86 percent of those on the calls indicated that they believe Obamacare should be repealed. I was sent to Congress to represent my constituents and have continued to vote for a repeal of Obamacare, as they have urged me to do. I will continue the fight to repeal and replace this flawed law"
Congressman Bill Flores represents the 17th District of Texas and is an entrepreneur, former energy executive, Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and member of the House Budget, Natural Resources and Veterans' Affairs Committees.
