National Review - Obama's Friends are America's Enemies

Reports that President Obama has invited newly elected Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi to meet with him in the United States should deeply trouble every American.

President Morsi is the standard-bearer of the Muslim Brotherhood, and so his victory has propelled the beliefs of his radical movement into the international spotlight. The group's motto reads: "Allah is our objective; the Prophet is our leader; the Koran is our law; Jihad is our way; dying in the way of Allah is our highest hope."

True to their motto, the Muslim Brotherhood's leaders have a long history of threatening jihad against the United States and Israel.

In 2006, Sheik Yusuf al-Qaradawi, the group's spiritual leader, said, "We do not disassociate Islam from war. On the contrary, disassociating Islam from war is the reason for our defeat. We are fighting in the name of Islam. Religion must lead to war. This is the only way we can win."

In a 2010 sermon, the Muslim Brotherhood's Supreme Guide Muhammad Badi said that America is "experiencing the beginning of its end and is heading towards its demise." Badi also stated in the sermon that "the improvement and change that the [Muslim] nation seeks can only be attained through jihad and sacrifice and by raising a jihadi generation that pursues death just as the enemies pursue life."

And just last week, Badi used his weekly sermon to reaffirm his commitment to jihad against Israel.

Americans need to look no further than the words from the Muslim Brotherhood to understand that they are not a friend of America or Israel. In April, White House officials already made the mistake of meeting with members of the Muslim Brotherhood. Repeating that mistake again will only demonstrate President Obama's commitment to a foreign policy of appeasement instead of speaking the truth about our enemies.

I call on President Obama to insist that President Morsi repudiates the Muslim Brotherhood's calls for jihad; and if President Morsi does not, President Obama should refuse to meet with him in the United States.

If these are President Obama's friends, who are his enemies?
