Roe Statement on Repeal of Obamacare Act

Today, U.S. Congressman Phil Roe, M.D. (TN-01) released the following statement in support of H.R. 6079, the Repeal of Obamacare Act:

"Today, I voted again to repeal the president's health care law. Passage of the Repeal of Obamacare Act sends another strong message that Republicans and Democrats alike are still opposed to this flawed bill. The law went too far because it gives the Washington bureaucrats too much power over patients' health care decisions.

"The current law fails to address the cost crisis in health care, and in fact, dramatically increases costs for all involved. The core program is simply too expensive, and the problem was compounded by not doing enough to address important cost issues. We need to ensure affordability while increasing accessibility in order to maximize the health care choices for patients. Further, at a time of tremendous economic uncertainty, the last thing our small businesses need is a huge tax increase that prevents job creation and encourages layoffs.

"I hope that my colleagues in the Senate will pass H.R. 6079 because, regardless of political party, our common goal should be to protect and preserve patient care, not further insert the government into our health care decisions."
