Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick (PA-08) issued the following statement this afternoon in response to the recently released manufacturing report:
"The President last month suggested that "the private sector is doing fine.' This latest manufacturing report demonstrates that our economic recovery is still fragile, and that we must pursue policies which will allow the private sector to grow and create jobs."
"Over the course of the last two months I have been meeting with local job creators in our community as part of my plan to visit 100 Businesses in 100 Days to better understand their concerns and the tools they need to promote a real and lasting economic recovery."
"While their specific concerns have varied, the consistent overall message is that they need Congress to pursue policies which reform our broken tax code, streamline our inefficient regulatory process, reduce the price of powering our homes and businesses, and reining in rising healthcare costs. Uncertainty over federal taxes and regulatory policy is preventing manufacturers from investing in new equipment and hiring new employees."
"I have supported dozens of pro-growth jobs bills which have been forwarded to the Senate to pass and the President to sign. I urge them to act on this important legislation to provide relief if our manufacturing sector and to the American people."
