Our schools play a critical role in the development of our children into young adults. We must all strive for and demand excellence in the education of our children, and we must keep local control over our schools. Unfunded mandates continue to drive unnecessary expenses for our schools. While we accomplished a lot in eliminating some of these, we must continue to identify and examine those mandates which are not critical to the education of our children. We need to keep state bureaucrats out of the local education process, and empower parents, teachers, and local administrators to determine the best curriculum for our children.
