In order to fund true priorities like defense and transportation and provide an appropriate safety net while keeping taxes low, we must cut spending and reduce the size of the federal government. It is often said these days -- and I believe it to be so --that we don't so much have a budget problem, we have a spending problem. Every family in America has to live within a budget and our government should operate on the same principle. We cannot continue to borrow against the futures of our children and grandchildren.
If the people of District Six send me to Washington, I will work to rein in out-of-control spending, lower taxes and reduce burdensome regulations that infringe on individual rights and hobble the ability of businesses to grow jobs and the economy. The American people want and deserve jobs, not government programs.
