Rising Deficits Caused by Spending Money We Don't Have

For more than ten years, Kansas leaders have tried to copy the Washington approach of trying to spend our way into prosperity. That failed approach puts government's needs ahead of yours…always more for them and less for you.

I have stood shoulder-to-shoulder with other fiscal conservatives to try to stop overspending. Unfortunately, the big spenders pushed state government to grow too big too fast, dragging down the local economy and killing private sector job growth. I am proud to say that I voted each year for a conservative budget.
