Chairman Price Rejects Obama Tax on Job Creators

House Republican Policy Committee Chairman Tom Price, M.D. (R-GA) responded to President Obama's proposal to raise taxes on America's job creators, saying:

"As the real unemployment rate hovers around 15 percent, it is destructive to impose this massive tax increase on the very people who create approximately 70 percent of all new jobs in America today. Job creators already face excessive taxation, burdensome regulations and disastrous legislation-- like Obamacare -- that make doing business in America ever more difficult. The last thing America's job creators need is another tax increase from President Obama.

"House Republicans emphatically oppose any effort by President Obama to raise taxes on any individual or small business while our economy continues to suffer. We must extend the current tax rates for all individuals and job creators to stabilize and grow our economy. While we ultimately seek reform that creates a flatter, fairer and simpler tax code, we support a one-year, full extension of current tax rates, along with establishing an expedited process to enact meaningful tax reform in the next Congress.

"Finally, it continues to be disturbing that during a time when Americans so desperately seek leadership to unify us, President Obama has persisted in resorting to the political gimmicks of class warfare and division. Our nation deserves better."

Chairman Price serves on the House Committee on Ways and Means. He is also a member of the House Committee on the Budget.
