Wyoming has been a "boom and bust economy" for too long. We are dependent on the extraction industry with commodities that fluctuate in price significantly. Right now the state is facing the possibilities of budget cuts that would result in many Wyomingites being laid off. The state has over a billion dollars in a "rainy day" fund that was set up so that when the price of the commodities dropped the state wouldn't have to make draconian cuts to the budget. We need to work at diversifying our economy to ensure that for the foreseeable future we will remain an income tax free state.
