The Fourth of July is our national holiday dedicated to the celebration of our nation's founding and our independence. At the conclusion of the Constitutional Convention in 1787, Benjamin Franklin was asked what type of government the Founding Fathers and the delegates to the convention had formed. To this question, Benjamin Franklin responded, "A republic, if you can keep it."
For well over two hundred years Americans have kept it. We are so fortunate to live in the greatest country on Earth, with more freedom and opportunities for its citizens than anywhere else. Today, as we celebrate with our families and in our community - the greatness of America - let's make sure we remember our Veterans who fought and sacrificed to keep our country free, and all of our troops that are currently serving overseas, protecting the American dream for all of us who live it every day.
My very best wishes to you and your family for a very Happy Fourth of July!
