State Sen. Cynthia Dill, the Democratic nominee in the race for Maine's open U.S. Senate seat, will make public appearances Wednesday in Winslow, Augusta and Lewiston in observance of Independence Day.
Dill will greet supporters and march in the Winslow 4th of July Parade from 10 a.m. until noon, then head to Augusta to join Augusta Democrats for a 4th of July barbecue around midday. Dill will then visit Lewiston for the Liberty Festival, joining the Androscoggin County Democrats at 3:30 p.m., before returning home to observe the holiday with her family.
"This Independence Day, I am reminded of how far we've come in the great American experiment, a shining example of freedom and hope for the world, with so far to go to achieve the American dream for everyone," Dill said. "I'm grateful for my friends, my family and my freedom this holiday, and for the opportunity to speak with Mainers everywhere about their concerns for the future of our country.
"As a working mother, I am lucky to be a candidate for the United States Senate and to be a voice on the national stage for working families, small businesses and social and economic justice. My opportunity to run and give voice to those who are not in the 1% is what this country is all about."
