Today, Congressman Duncan Hunter voted in favor of a House-passed resolution holding Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress for his refusal to cooperate with a Congressional investigation into Operation Fast and Furious.
"The Attorney General has been given opportunity-after-opportunity to cooperate with the ongoing investigation into Fast and Furious," said Hunter. "He's withheld information while suggesting that the investigation is politically-motivated and nothing more than a distraction. The fact is that the failed Fast and Furious Operation occurred under his leadership. It's a fact that a Border Patrol agent was killed, as a result. And it's a fact that numerous documents--critical to the investigation--have been withheld from Congress. The Attorney General holds responsibility and today's action was a significant step towards holding him accountable.
"The Attorney General could have prevented today's action and embarrassment by cooperating with the investigation. He chose not to cooperate--and for this, the House did the right thing by voting to hold him in contempt."
