The young people of the state of Kansas are indeed our future. Every young person deserves a quality education, and every qualified teacher deserves fair compensation. This does not, however, mean a blank check out of the taxpayers' checkbook.
We must incorporate sound business principles into our school budgeting. We must ensure the money invested in education reaches its intended destination, whether that is student, teacher, supplies, etc. We must have accountability from school administrators to ensure that funding is being properly allocated, and is not "stuck" at the upper-most level.
Mostly, if we are to teach our youth in the manner they deserve, and thank our teachers accordingly, we must have bi-partisan dialogue - followed by action - to achieve these goals. I commit fully to working alongside others to reign in unnecessary expenditures, and work toward a fair-funding solution that ensures educational success for our students and schools.
