U.S. Rep. Tom Rooney (FL-16) issued the following statement after a bipartisan majority voted to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress:
"Attorney General Holder's steadfast refusal to cooperate in the investigation into Fast and Furious and the death of Border Agent Brian Terry left us with no choice to find him contempt of Congress. The Attorney General has repeatedly and willfully obstructed a Congressional investigation, withheld critical information and documents, and made inaccurate statements to Congress.
"We haven't seen many bipartisan votes in Washington over the last several years, but today, a strong bipartisan majority agreed to hold Eric Holder in contempt. If this bipartisan consensus is not enough to convince the Attorney General to resign, then he should be prosecuted for the crime of contempt against Congress."
