Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) issued the following statement commemorating Independence Day:

"The Fourth of July marks the declaration of our independence and the expression of ideas which have guided our Republic and inspired freedom around the world. As we celebrate Independence Day with friends and family, please remember not only those who established our freedom, but also those who fought and gave their lives to defend it throughout the last 236 years."

Smith founded and serves as co-chairman of the bipartisan Congressional Rural Veterans Caucus.
