Congressman Lee Terry (R-NE) today released the following statement regarding the June 2012 jobs report. Last month the U.S. economy created just 80,000 jobs and the unemployment rate stayed at 8.2 percent. Real unemployment -- which includes discouraged workers -- rose to 14.9 percent, its highest level since February.
"Job creation and economic growth are not where they need to be, that much is obvious. After 41 straight months of unemployment above 8 percent, it is high time Washington starts working to lessen the red tape being faced by job creators, end trillion dollar deficits, and work together to enact policies which help rather than stifle business owners.
"This morning I had the opportunity to speak with Nebraska veterans who are small business owners. Their concerns were evident and reflect what I hear from business owners throughout the Second Congressional District -- that our nation doesn't need more regulations, higher taxes, and increased spending."
