Today, Congresswoman Betty Sutton (OH-13) released the following statement in response to the House agreeing on a long-term Transportation Bill extension:
"I voted today to extend the Transportation Bill because we need to provide certainty to Ohio communities and Ohio working families. With this vote, we know that critical road and infrastructure projects will receive the funding they need to be completed, and the people working on them won't be forced off the job. This bill also contains key "Buy American' provisions I fought for, that take a step in ensuring that the materials we use to make American infrastructure are made in America, as well as a sense of Congress that we should use Harbor Maintenance Trust Fund collections exclusively for operation and maintenance activities, which is important to Northeast Ohio. I look forward to working with my colleagues in the future to strengthen these critical provisions and to ensure that when we make smart investments in American transportation and infrastructure, we are making investments in American jobs and families."
