Today, Representative Larry Kissell (NC-08) announced that the Cabarrus Community Health Centers (CCHC) will receive funding from the Human Resources and Services Administration to expand its primary care services into Rowan County. Total funding of $379,167 will be awarded to establish a new primary care clinic in collaboration with Rowan Regional Medical Center.
"This grant will provide Rowan County with a new clinic that will offer a tremendous service to families in Rowan County and the surrounding region," said Kissell. "The collaboration between Cabarrus and Rowan counties will bring doctors to those who do not have the opportunity to see a doctor and will strengthen the services provided across the region. I'm glad to have worked to help secure this funding and will continue to work to make sure that our tax dollars are being spent here at home to put people to work and take care of our citizens."
The new clinic will be part of the South Rowan Medical Mall, 308 East Centerview Street, China Grove. Officials estimate the facility will provide primary and dental care to almost 5,000 children and adults throughout Rowan County each year.
"The Board and staff of the Cabarrus Community Health Centers are pleased to have the opportunity to provide medical care to low income Rowan County residents who have difficulty accessing primary care services," said Lamar Barrier, chairman of the CCHC Board. "The Rowan Clinic will employ a physician and support staff to care for children and adults and will provide linkages to other services such as dental care, and case management."
Dari Caldwell, President of Rowan Regional Medical Center, thanked Kissell for his support of the project and discussed the ways in which Rowan Regional Medical Center will work closely with CCHC to provide care at the new clinic.
"The new facility at the South Rowan Medical Mall will work closely with Rowan Regional Medical Center and its physicians to provide support services to this facility and its patients," said Caldwell. "The support we have received from Congressman Kissell for this region and community, and for the facility and the services it will provide for Rowan County has been tremendous and we are very thankful for his help."
