As the son of a retired Dearborn Heights police officer, I understand the importance of public safety in our communities. We can't build the safe, supportive communities our state needs to thrive while slashing funding for our emergency responders.
The safety and protection provided by our police and fire services lie at the heart of what makes a community a great place to live. Unless we're willing to invest in protecting our communities' well-being, we'll never be able to build the foundation that will serve as the backbone for our state's resurgence.
As State Representative, I'll work with local and state police and fire officials to create a temporary Michigan Public Safety Task Force to investigate the funding challenges that our police and fire heroes face every day and offer comprehensive solutions to this challenge. My goal is to identify the minimum required number of public safety officers for a given community and then introduce legislation that will ensure that our communities are never under-protected.
