Michigan seniors have spent their entire lives working to make Michigan a better place to live. As State Representative, I'll work to repeal the pension tax and ensure that their service and dedication to this state is rewarded, not punished.
Attempting to balance the budget on the backs of Michigan seniors is completely unacceptable. According to AARP estimates, seniors will now pay an extra $1,400 per year to cover the tax giveaways given to Governor Snyder's corporate friends. Rather than provide a real solution to Michigan's massive structural budget deficit, this new tax barely makes a dent in our ever-growing budgetary problems.
Michigan seniors worked for their entire lives to earn a respectable quality of life and sustainable income. Now, they're being unfairly punished, forcing many to choose between everyday necessities or having to reenter the workforce in one of the toughest economic environments in recent history. Michigan seniors deserve better and as State Represenative, I will fight each and every day on their behalf.
