If you ask Michigan business owners what their major concerns are, they're no longer giving answers like "high taxes" or "excessive regulations." The main problem facing business owners is a lack of demand for their products. The cure is simple: increase disposable income by putting Michiganders back to work.
The Snyder jobs plan gives businesses unprecedented tax breaks in the hope that it will inspire corporations to create more jobs. Unfortunately, we've seen that the only thing it has inspired is bigger bonus checks for CEOs. While big business gets a huge break under Governor Snyder, working and middle class families, students, and seniors are forced to shoulder an even greater burden.
As State Representative, I'll fight to bring an immediate end to the corporate cronyism that drastically undercuts the potential for serious job creation. I'll introduce a package of bills that will end grants and tax inventives for those businesses that do not demonstrate taxpayers' hard-earned dollars are being invested in measures that put Michiganders back to work. If Michigan businesses aren't committed to restoring our state to an economic powerhouse, they won't get another dime of our money.
