As a parent of two young children, I am a strong advocate of education. I strongly support school choice and greater parental control of education. Milwaukee's school choice program is an excellent example of a way to give parents and children options they need. Other innovative alternatives, such as charter and virtual schools should be expanded.
I firmly believe that we must give school boards the ability to better manage out of control benefit cost, through open competition. Currently WEAC has a strangled hold on district benefits, which are often twice the cost of the private sector. Saving benefit costs would put more money into the classroom, as well as teacher salaries.
