U.S. Senator Bob Menendez marched in the community's 4th of July parade today as part of his observance of Independence Day. After walking the parade route and greeting local residents, Senator Menendez released the following statement:
"Today, we celebrate American Independence. But whenever I spend time in the communities of New Jersey on the 4th of July, it is clear to me that we are also celebrating our interdependence upon one another," said Senator Menendez, a former Mayor of Union City. "Every community's greatest resource is the people who call it home. And the same can be said for this great nation of ours. Together, there is no challenge we cannot overcome. Together, we can make our greatest aspirations for a better future become real. That is the spirit of American independence. I wish all Americans, especially all in the State of New Jersey, a very Happy 4th of July."
