State Senator and Candidate for U.S. Senate Joe Kyrillos (R-Monmouth) released the following statement today regarding efforts by several New Jersey and New York legislators urging the federal government to lend more support to the 9-11 memorial site.
"I fully support the efforts of Governors Chris Christie and Andrew Cuomo, and others, in urging the federal government to shoulder more of the burden of constructing and managing the 9/11 Memorial site," said Senator Kyrillos.
"The attacks of 9/11 had global significance. It was not an attack on the people of New York, or even America, it was an attack on the value of Freedom. It is imperative that we commemorate what happened on that day from many generations to come. Other historic sites nationwide, like the Statue of Liberty, or the memorials in Washington, D.C. are protected and preserved by the federal government, and the 9/11 memorial should be treated no differently."
