Michigan has what is known as a "structural deficit," this means that every year the state will come up short on tax revenues and long on expenses. This needs to stop. We need to scale government back, hold spending down, and reevaluate how we (over)tax our citizens immediately. If we don't fix the structural deficit soon we'll be out of money and the only option if we keep spending is hike your taxes. That is completely unacceptable. In these tough economic times lower taxes and budget cuts should be our first thought, not higher taxes. We have been very successful with the Republican Majority at the County Commission in holding costs down and making your tax dollar go as far as possible.
