U.S. Senate candidate David Dewhurst issued the following statement this morning on his opposition to the Medicaid expansion following the Supreme Court's ruling yesterday to uphold Obamacare:
"I vehemently oppose the Medicaid expansion contained in Obamacare, which will add billions to federal and state spending" said David Dewhurst. "The federal government has nearly $16 trillion in debt, our entitlement system is broken, and our credit rating has been downgraded. I will go to the U.S. Senate and fight to repeal all of Obamacare, including the Medicaid expansion. Adding additional strain to the state budget by adding 1.5-2 million more people to an already broken Medicaid system will be a train wreck for Texas when the federal government's Medicaid match inevitably ends. In order to stop our spiraling federal entitlement costs and get our fiscal house in order, I will lead the charge in Washington to pass a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution, just like we have in Texas. We must shout "NO' to new spending, "NO' to Obamacare, and "NO' to more debt for our children."
