U.S. Senate candidate David Dewhurst released the following statement today after President Obama exerted executive privilege over vital documents surrounding the Fast & Furious debacle.
"President Obama has tragically chosen to continue to hide the truth about the disastrous Operation Fast & Furious. Unfortunately, President Obama's decision to hide documents through Executive Privilege is a blatant political attempt to hide damaging information from the American people in order to protect his re-election campaign. President Obama's abuse of power hides the increasingly obvious errors by his Administration from the American people and denies closure for the devastated family of slain Border Patrol agent Brian Terry. I hope the U.S. House of Representatives Oversight and Government Reform Committee today votes in favor of a Contempt of Congress ruling against Attorney General Eric Holder. I strongly urge Congress to aggressively pursue all of its options to investigate this travesty and hold those responsible to account."
