Many people in Washington enjoy hunting for food and shooting for sport, and many have Concealed Carry Permits. As a member of WAC (Washington Arms Collectors), Life member of the National Rifle Association, student of several safety and defense classes, and a firm believer in the wisdom of the signers of the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights guaranteeing citizens the right to bear arms, I will guard this essential freedom.
It might surprise you to learn that cities that have enacted strict gun control laws have seen their violent crime increase. (see Chicago) On the other hand, when Kennesaw Georgia passed a law in the '80s requiring each household to have a gun, they were immediately lampooned by the media...but nobody's laughing now. Kennesaw GA has had only two murders since that law was passed over 25 years ago...and their population has skyrocketed from 5000 to 30,000. If you think about it, this is entirely logical; criminals would much rather attack 'sitting ducks.' Ever wonder why more shooting rampages occur in schools and on college campuses? Criminals know that nobody will shoot back, in places where guns are banned.
Something else you might find surprising: more children die in backyard swimming pools than in gun accidents. Should we therefore ban swimming pools?
I have been endorsed by GOAL (Gun Owners Action League), which is the political action committee of WAC.
