Republican Congressional Candidate Jackie Walorski today visited Miller's Merry Manor in New Carlisle to launch her "Protect Our Seniors" tour. Walorski met with several residents and staff at a casual reception to listen to their interests and concerns.
"Now more than ever, our seniors need a strong voice in Congress. Facilities like Miller's Merry Manor rely on stable Medicare funding to support their residents and staff," said Walorski. "My mom is 74 years old and lives with me, and I am concerned about her generation's access to long term quality care. That is why I have pledged to oppose any cuts to Medicare."
Walorski met with Pat Boyle, President and CEO of Miller's Health Centers, and their hard working administrators. Miller's Health Centers owns 30 nursing homes and 10 assisted living communities across Indiana--caring for thousands of seniors. They employ over 3,000 experienced staffers who are devoted to administering a variety of services such as rehabilitation, skilled care, and assisted living.
"I will oppose any cuts to Medicare that could jeopardize a senior's ability to be stay in a wonderful facility like this. You've paid into Medicare, and you deserve to have your investment protected," said Walorski.
In the coming weeks, Walorski plans to visit multiple healthcare facilities in the district to meet with senior residents and staff.
