Issue Position

Florida needs to be a leader in the use of alternative energies. With our state growing by leaps and bounds every year, our demand for energy to power our homes and businesses will continue to rise. Scott believes that we have a responsibility to find ways to keep Florida's energy supply stable. With the recent events in the world that leave energy supplies open to price spikes, Scott knows that now is the time to make investments into Florida's energy needs. He believes the answer is creating tax incentives to companies that develop energy efficient products and technologies and expanding existing programs that offer grants to homebuilders and homeowners for using alternative energy supplies. Scott believes that energy is the lifeblood of our economy and that we must over the long term be moving towards renewable sources. In the meantime, we need to gain independence from foreign oil suppliers by pursuing domestic sources such as safely drilling off of our coast.
