Issue Position: Jobs for Utah

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2012

Scott knows that Utah's business-friendly environment makes it possible for our state to attract and retain many great industries that do business here. As a U.S. Senator, Scott will ensure that Utah remains on the road to lasting economic growth.

Utah's highly educated workforce is among the best in the nation. Scott knows that in order to keep Utah competitive, we must continue to provide good jobs for our college graduates. Scott also understands that creating new job opportunities will help sustain Utah's small communities and will ensure that making a living here is a viable option for our kids and grandkids.

Scott knows that in order for Utah's families to remain strong, it is vital to promote policies that ensure safe neighborhoods, adequate financial resources, essential medical care, and access to education and other community resources.

Scott also believes that a fare-wage is something to which every American is entitled: and part of that fairness comes from market principles that say that two people doing the same job, with the same skill level, ought to be compensated the same regardless of gender, race or religion. Equal pay for equal work is vital for our economic growth and middle class financial security. With more and more women contributing to household incomes, the lack of equal pay for women hurts all middle class working families -- men and children included.

To continue creating jobs for Utahns, Scott knows:

Utah small businesses must compete on a level playing field against out-of-state corporations.
Red tape must be cut, and Utah's employers must have all the tools they need to keep creating jobs.
Investments are needed in our state's physical infrastructure, public safety, and research and development.
