As someone who nearly died at the age of six, I learned early on the value of life and liberty. That is why I oppose the USA Patriot Act, the indefinite detention provisions of the NDAA, and other forms of legislation that go against the Bill of Rights. I am also worried that the President will continue to use executive orders to bypass the legislative branch of government. Unfortunately, the blame does not lie with Obama alone. Previous Presidents, regardless of whether they were a Democrat or Republican, have used executive orders to declare themselves dictators of this country. As a member of congress, I would seek to repeal the legislation that violates our constitutionally enshrined freedoms. I would also introduce an amendment that prohibits the President from using executive orders to operate outside the bounds of the Constitution.
