Rep. K. Michael Conaway (R-TX) released the following statement after the House voted to charge Attorney General Eric Holder with contempt of Congress for ignoring a congressional subpoena for documents related to Fast and Furious, the failed federal gun trafficking operation.
"Transparency and accountability are not optional; government officials are responsible for their actions and decisions, especially when a tragedy such as the death of a U.S. Border Patrol agent occurs.
"The family of Agent Brian Terry, the American people, and Congress deserve answers.
"And, to get those answers, the Department of Justice has to turn over the remaining documents related to this failed operation. Only then will we be able to work together to ensure this tragedy never happens again."
