Rep. Hansen Clarke Helps Secure Money to Fight Crime in Michigan

Statement

Date: June 19, 2012

"I am thrilled to announce that the Michigan Department of State Police has received a grant of nearly $6.5 million from the federal Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program for fiscal year 2012. I have championed this program that supports police officers in their work to keep our communities safe. Last year, I wrote to the House Appropriations Committee in support of increased funding for the JAG program for fiscal year 2012. I also supported funding for JAG in fiscal year 2013. This grant will bring funding to Michigan to fight crime, prevent drug use, and reduce traffic crashes."
