LAS CRUCES-Today Congressman Steve Pearce rallied supporters with First Lady Laura Bush in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Pearce said, "I was proud to have had the First Lady in Las Cruces. Laura Bush is a fantastic First Lady. She is an extremely classy and well spoken individual.

"The First Lady has been a calm and steady support for the President during some very difficult times. She is also a tireless advocate for literacy and education. She understands the importance of ensuring our kids receive a first rate education.

"It was a great rally and folks were really energized about their support for the First Lady. It is going to be a close race and we will work hard to get every voter to the polls.

First Lady Laura Bush's visit to Las Cruces follows President Bush's visit on Monday to Hobbs, New Mexico where approximately 18,000 people stood in the chilly weather for several hours for the historic presidential visit to Lea County.
