Issue Position: Encouraging Prosperity

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2012

In order to maintain a prosperous community, we must pursue policies which encourage economic development and remove excessive tax burdens from the everyday working family in Kansas .

As such, I am committed to:

*Reducing the property tax, including stealth increases through property valuation increases.
*Lowering the income tax, which is a tax on productivity, particularly when stacked on top of the federal income tax.
*Reducing the sales tax and completely eliminating the sales tax on food.
*Promoting responsible economic development initiatives and resisting excessive regulation of Kansas business.

I believe that tax relief and less regulation encourages growth and investment in our state. The Kansas tax burden is simply too high and cannot be sustained if we are going to be a destination for families and business in the future.
