Rockefeller on Commerce Secretary John Bryson's Resignation

Statement

Chairman John D. (Jay) Rockefeller IV today released the following statement on Commerce Secretary John Bryson resigning as the Secretary of the Department of Commerce:

"John Bryson's selfless commitment to serving his country has also led him to his decision today to step down while he takes care of his health. We recognize that our country is at an economic crossroads, I have great respect for John and his desire to resign in an effort to make sure there are no distractions toward job growth and advancing America's businesses and entrepreneurs for a full economic recovery. As Commerce Secretary, his impressive background, dedication and hard work helped to promote American business across the globe and sparked manufacturing, innovation and competitiveness here at home. I am saddened to lose his leadership at this very important post, but I certainly support his decision and I wish John, his wife Louise, and his family all the very best.

"I remain confident that Secretary Rebecca Blank will continue John's efforts to restore jobs and manufacturing in America and I look forward to working with her to do just that."
