Today, former North Dakota Attorney General and Senate candidate Heidi Heitkamp announced she is challenging Rick Berg to seven debates and has already accepted invitations to four debates in the fall -- meaning Heitkamp and Berg would appear on the stage together at least seven times between now and election day in November.
"There is a clear choice in this election," said Heitkamp. "North Dakotans deserve to hear about the difference between my campaign to put our country first, create jobs and balance the budget, and my opponent, who has voted with his leaders in Washington to give millionaires like himself a tax cut, to slash crop insurance and to end the guarantee of Medicare and raise Medicare premiums."
Heitkamp's already agreed upon debates with Berg include one hosted by the Lignite Energy Council Oct. 3 and an Oct. 11 appearance hosted by the North Dakota Chamber of Commerce. She has also accepted debate invitations from Prairie Public Radio and the Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber of Commerce.
The Fargo Forum noted Sunday that during the primary campaign Berg refused to debate challenger Duane Sand.
