Issues: Labor Unions

Today, the U.S. Senate reaffirmed their commitment to the Obama Administration's extremist special interest supporters, ahead of hardworking Americans. Specifically, the U.S. Senate failed to support an amendment to the Farm Bill offered by Sen. Rubio (R-FL) that offered commonsense labor reforms as expressed in S. 3221, the Rewarding Achievement and Incentivizing Successful Employees (RAISE) Act. Tom Smith, candidate for the U.S. Senate issued the following statement in reaction to Sen. Bob Casey's "no" vote:

"I disagree with Sen. Casey, who with today's vote said that union bosses and government bureaucrats should have the ability to block merit based raises for hard working union members," said Smith. "As an employer, I know the Raise ACT will empower American workers to earn compensation they deserve, something that has been thwarted by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and some labor leaders favoring partisan politics over job creation. As a former member of the United Mine Workers of America (UMWA), I respect the right of every American to be fairly compensated for their hard work and success."
