Race Tight, Sherrod on the Ropes

Great news -- having started nearly twenty points down in the polls last year, we're now leading among Independent voters and are within the margin of error overall!

A lot of hard work went into moving those numbers. Our grassroots campaign has taken us to more than 50 of Ohio's 88 counties. Our commercials told people about my blue collar roots, Marine Corps background and my record of success as Treasurer. And perhaps most importantly, Ohio voters are learning about 38-year politician Sherrod Brown's record of failure.

Voters are learning that Sherrod Brown cast the deciding vote on the federal government takeover of healthcare, a measure that Ohio voters overwhelmingly rejected on the 2011 ballot. They are learning that Brown voted for the failed stimulus package, the Wall Street bailout, and other big-spending programs that have added to our national debt. They are learning that Brown was ranked as the "most Liberal Senator in America" and votes with President Obama 95% of the time, making him out of touch with Ohio voters.

We can see that the changing dynamics of the race are getting to Sherrod Brown, and for the first time in his 38-year political career, he is worried and making mistakes on the campaign trail.

With high unemployment and uncertainty in the private sector, Brown slipped up last week and said that he thinks the federal government is the real engine of private sector job creation.

When Ohio companies raised concerns recently about the medical device tax in ObamaCare, Brown said that those companies should simply pass along the cost of the tax to their customers.
