Our nation is at a crossroads. The economy has been derailed by government interference in the marketplace, over-regulation, and tax structures that defy common sense. While we have to wait until next year to fix Washington, the road to recovery can start now here in Georgia. With strong leadership, we can get the economy in our district and in our state back on track.
*Simplify the Tax Code -- To be competitive for new jobs and economic development, we must create a favorable tax environment for all businesses and all Georgians.
*Streamline Government -- Government must be LIMITED, CONSTITUTIONAL, and CONSISTENT to be effective and efficient for citizens and business. Government departments, polices and regulations should be subject to at least semi-annual cost/benefit analysis and review. Unnecessary programs and regulations must be eliminated.
*Stimulate Education and Healthcare -- We must introduce more market based incentives into our education and healthcare systems, which will produce better results, better products, and greater value.
These are beginning steps to creating an environment that will attract business and promote growth. Imagine a state that doesn't have empowerment zones, but is itself an empowerment zone; a state where regulations make sense to our people, our industries and to our environment. Imagine a state that has the highest quality and best priced health care system. Imagine a state that helps every student reach their God-given potential. Imagine a state that accomplishes this through the most efficient application of governance in the nation. That's the state I imagine, and that's the one I pledge to build. Join me as we rebuild, restore, and renew our great state.
