It is not only how much we spend on education that matters; how we spend it matters too. I have work with my fellow Representatives to place a high value on raising standards, accountability, reversing failure and offering opportunities, and it is working.

Florida now ranks in the top 10 states in the country in writing proficiency, with Hispanic students ranking second among their counterparts and African‐American students ranking fourth.

*I strongly value the state's investment in education; I am working to ensure that more education dollars are spent in the classroom.

*I will continue to carry on our strong track record of investing in our education system and leading the way on education reforms, and our investment has paid off with year after year of rising student achievement and remarkable gains made on just about every national measure.

*I have and will continue to support the creation of a world‐class curriculum in Florida to improve the rigor and relevance of our schools.

*This curriculum establishes distinct grade‐level expectations for language arts, science, mathematics and social studies.

*I also support School Choice programs, such as Florida's K-12 scholarships for children with special needs and low-income families, which allow parents to decide which school provides an education best suited to the families values and needs.
