Today, Congressman Sires announced that the Newark Workforce Investment Board, Inc. has been awarded $2,998,899 from the Department of Labor's (DOL) Workforce Innovation Fund grant.

"Through the DOL's Workforce Innovation Fund grant, New Jerseyans will be able to benefit from innovative employment and training opportunities," said Congressman Sires. "These funds will go towards making workforce development programs more effective."

The goal of the Workforce Innovation Fund is to better assess the effectiveness of current workforce strategy and all grants include an evaluation component. "I am pleased that New Jerseyans will be able to benefit from this grant by receiving more efficient employment services to enable them to find employment," said Congressman Sires.
