Perlmutter Votes Against "Oil Above All" Federal Giveaway Bill

Statement

Rep. Ed Perlmutter (CO-7) released the following statement regarding today's passage of the Big Oil wish-list legislation.

"Today's Tea Party Republican bill is not serious energy policy, and not even constitutional. It is a gift to Republican-friendly oil companies. Americans want an all-of-the-above energy policy, not this Republican oil-above-all proposal. This bill completely ignores our nation's renewable energy needs. For the first time in a decade, we are producing more domestic oil than we are importing, and the number of oil rigs is at a record high. Even so, the Tea Party Republicans want to cut renewable energy and give oil companies a blank check. I support responsible oil and gas development as part of our energy portfolio, along with such things as wind, solar, biomass, nuclear, hydroelectric, geothermal and efforts to be more energy efficient. I do not support wholesale giveaways of our nation's land and community protection laws."
