Congressman Steve Rothman (NJ-9), a member of the House Appropriations Defense Subcommittee, released the following statement:

In June, we recognize Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) month and recommit ourselves to standing up for those veterans who suffer this horrible disorder. PTSD affects 11% to 20% of veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan. It is our duty to ensure that our nation's heroes and their families have the support they need to be properly treated. Not all injuries in battle are as visible as broken bones or physical wounds. PTSD has a devastating impact on many of our veterans and their families. It is crucial that we continue to both recognize the impact of PTSD and remove the stigma that is often associated with it. Every day that we live in peace in America, we must remember the costs of liberty and those who have given so much to keep us safe.
