Congressman Andrews Unveils Plan to Keep Military Call Center Jobs in the U.S.

Today, Congressman Andrews announced his plan to keep U.S. military call-center jobs from being sent overseas. Congressman Andrews wrote the bill as part of the National Defense Authorization Act of 2013(NDAA) that would ensure that customer service hotlines that are operated under any branch of the military will be based entirely in the U.S.

Rep. Andrews' plan would make sure that all staff for programs like TRICARE, the military's healthcare service, will be located in the America and staffed by U.S. citizens. While it is necessary to cut spending to rein in our national debt and deficit, it is also vital to protect and strengthen our commitment to American jobs, veterans, and service members.

"As more businesses are sending call center jobs overseas, we want our military to be a shining exception to this regrettable trend by employing a hotline staff of American workers," said Congressman Andrews.

"Let me be clear --we are not in any way accusing our military of sending jobs overseas, we must simply ensure that we protect American jobs in any way we can. This measure sees that cost cutting and job creation can work hand-in-hand for our military," added Rep. Andrews.

As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, Congressman Andrews has worked across political lines to support service members, veterans and their families
