House Republican Policy Committee Chairman Tom Price, M.D. (R-GA) issued the following statement after the House of Representatives focused this week on efforts to expand job creation and energy solutions for the American people. The Domestic Energy and Jobs Act, passed by the House of Representatives today, would spur job creation through the responsible development of American-made energy resources.
"While President Obama is busy picking winners and losers in the energy market, House Republicans have embraced an "all-of-the-above' energy strategy. These policies develop more American-made energy resources to foster job growth, give America a stronger strategic footing in the world's energy market and put America on a path to greater energy self-sufficiency," said Chairman Price. "At a time of widespread joblessness, the good-paying work available in the energy sector would be welcome news for our fragile economy. American families and businesses are also desperately seeking the relief of lower, stabilized energy costs. The "Domestic Energy and Jobs Act' is an important package that continues House Republican efforts to find real solutions to boost the economy and secure the development of a true "all-of-the-above' energy strategy."
After 40 straight months of an unemployment rate exceeding 8 percent, House Republicans understand that energy jobs could greatly improve the American economy. In fact, studies suggest increased energy production on both private and public lands would create 600,000 direct jobs.
