Quality education is crucial for individual opportunity and to nourish a talented, expert workforce. I will:
*Partner with fellow legislators in a bipartisan manner, and with education, business, and nonprofits to craft solutions for our education funding crisis in Colorado.
*Continue to work with State and Local agencies to foster quality preschool and early childhood education opportunities. Investment in early childhood education has a very high return on investment.
*Continue to work with our community colleges, CMC and CNCC, on bills that expand opportunities for dual enrollment, diverse training programs, and local baccalaureate opportunities.
*Work with higher education and business on bills that allow for more direct placement opportunities of CU and CSU graduates in local businesses. One good example is the Steamboat Springs Chamber partnership with CSU to place Chemistry BA graduates in local businesses. Similar programs in other disciplines are certainly possible.
