Issue Position: Constitutional Conservatism

Issue Position

You can call it "Original Intent", "Framers Intent", "Strict Constructionist" - Justin is a strict Constitutional Conservative.

He knows we need to look directly at the language of the Constitution to better understand just how far government has gotten away from the true meaning of that language. Justin understands that our rights are being constantly eroded and that we need to wake up and fight back. As a State Representative, Justin will focus on two issues: the 2nd Amendment and the 10th Amendment.

2nd Amendment:

When the Bill of Rights was adopted, the Framers saw it as the means of protection for our civil liberties and individual rights from the government. First, they enumerated freedom of religion, speech, the press, assembly, and ability to petition the government.

Immediately after, the Framers included the 2nd Amendment as liberty's sword and shield to protect those freedoms. Not suprisingly, the government has been eroding our rights for years. Laws that recognize our inalienable right to bear arms like Constitutional Carry (Vermont-Style Law) will be a giant step forward in restoring and protecting our rights.

10th Amendment: "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people".

Our nation has recently seen a resurgence of Tenth Amendment issues. The States have been pushing back, essentially a grassroots movement, against federal overreach and activity. Many states like Tennessee, for example, have drafted laws saying they will not adopt or enforce Obamacare. Arizona, as another example, has taken the lead on addressing the problem of illegal aliens.

The national push-back against the federal government has come from the State Legislatures, Colorado needs to be a leader in this fight.
