My mother is an educator, my aunt is a retired educator, I have many relatives who are educators, and I have four of my own children in public schools. My children's education and experiences in the classroom will undoubtedly be formed by their teachers. I strongly support an increase in their funding and resources. The schools rely on federal funding; however, I do not support the Federal Government trying to control our local schools and their curriculum! To borrow a line from Sen. Colburn (OK) "Our Constitution does not authorize the federal government to play any formal part in local education and our Founders clearly never envisioned the overbearing role it now plays." Decisions regarding education should be controlled by teachers and parents. I strongly support MORE local control at the schools vice Federal control. I sincerely doubt anyone making the decisions for the local schools have ever set foot in a local classroom.
